ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. 7-11.0
IN RE: DONATION OF JUROR COMPENSATION TO
GUARDIAN AD LITEM PROGRAM OR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SHELTER
WHEREAS '40.24(8), Florida Statutes (1997), authorizes each judicial circuit to make an election allowing jurors to irrevocably donate their jury service compensation to either a guardian ad litem program or to a domestic violence shelter upon the conclusion of their service, and
WHEREAS the election is to be made by the chief judge of the circuit pursuant to the authority vested in that position by the Florida Constitution (Article V, Section 2) and Rule 2.050, Florida Rules of Judicial Administration and ''40.015, 40.02, and 40.225, Florida Statutes (1997), it is hereby
ORDERED that each Clerk of Court in the Tenth Judicial Circuit shall, in accordance with the requirements of the controlling statute:
give written notice to all jurors that they have the option to so donate their compensation and that all donated funds will be directly received by the chosen program or shelter, and
maintain a list of domestic violence shelters in their respective counties, with each shelter to benefit from the donated compensation on a rotating annual basis, and
transmit the funds to either the guardian ad litem program or the domestic violence shelter on a monthly or quarterly basis, as determined by the clerk.
This Order shall take effect no later than May 29, 1998.
