IN AND FOR HARDEE, HIGHLANDS & POLK COUNTIES
ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. 2-1.1PERIODIC REVIEW OF THE STATUS OF THE
INMATES OF THE COUNTY JAIL
WHEREAS, Rule 2.050(b)(3), Florida Rules of Judicial Administration, requires the chief judge to develop an "administrative plan for the efficient and proper administration of all courts within his circuit" which shall include "mandatory periodic review of the status of the inmates of the county jail"; and
WHEREAS, Rule 2.050(b)(8), Florida Rules of Judicial Administration, directs that "The chief judge or the chief judges designee shall regularly examine the status of every inmate of the county jail".
Accordingly, it is ORDERED:
DONE AND ORDERED on this 30th day of July 2002.1. That "INMATE STATUS REVIEW COMMITTEES" are hereby established in each of the three counties of the circuit to consist of the following persons:
Chairman: Public Defender or designated staff
Members: (1) Sheriff of each county or designated deputy
(2) County Probation Director or designated staff
2. That the above committees will meet on call of the respective chairman and will examine, once each month, the status of the inmates of the county jail. Such examination will include a walk through of the jail; may involve an examination of the jail book-in records; and may involve other such review as the committee deems appropriate. The chairman shall submit quarterly reports to the chief judge.
3. That this committee will determine whether or not undue delays are occurring in criminal process, especially with regard to Rule 3.191, Fla. R. Crim. P.
4. That the chairman of the committee or designated staff shall promptly report any discovered deficiencies in writing to the chief judge.
5. That the chairman or designated staff may, if necessary, consult with and request the assistance of other agency personnel as the need arises. (i.e. Health Officials, Court Administration).
6. That the sheriffs and chiefs of police in those municipalities having detention facilities shall fully cooperate with the committees and judges herein directed to conduct the examination.
7. This Administrative Order cancels and supersedes administrative order No. 2-1.0 of March 17, 1993
