ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. 2-63.0

 

IN RE: ANGER MANAGEMENT CLASSES

 

In accordance with the authority vested in the Chief Judge by Rule 2.050 of the Florida rules of Judicial Administration and by Florida Statutes, and in an effort to educate those parties who engage in violent behavior, and in an effort to ensure a safe community, it is therefore

ORDERED AND DIRECTED that

1. The Clerk of the Court of Polk County, Mediation and Education Department is hereby authorized to offer a three-hour class to educate and inform first time offenders and those who commit minor offenses in anger on the subject of anger management. 

2. Attendance at the classes may be self-referred or by Order of the Court.

3. The Clerk of the Court shall provide, upon request, a supply of class registration brochures to any attorney in Polk County who regularly practices family and/or criminal law.

4. The Clerk is authorized to charge a fee of $25.00 for attendance at the class. The fee shall be assessed against the Respondent or offender.

5. The class will cover the following subject areas:

A.  How to identify causes of anger.

B.  Definition of anger.

C.  How to separate the feelings from the behaviors.

D.  Finding acceptable ways of dealing with anger.

E.   Anger management techniques with emphasis on personal responsibility for one’s   behavior.
